As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2014 Wrexham itec hosted an event for local employers to come along and hear all about how they could be supported in taking on an apprentice to help their business grow. The aim of the event was to inform local businesses on the benefits of the scheme, how successful it can be taking on an apprentice and how they can become involved.
The invitation was sent out inviting all local businesses to book on to the event from 8am where they could come along for breakfast and find out more information. A short film that was created specifically for the event, was showcased which told the story of apprenticeships, what is involved, the benefits of the scheme and how they have been such a success over the years. The film included many success stories of other local businesses that have embarked on an apprenticeship journey with itec and how they couldn’t recommend the scheme enough to other local employers.
A networking session was held after the film for employers to gather information and ask any questions or discuss thoughts they had on taking on an apprentice. They were even given a goodie bag to leave with which contained information on how to become part of the scheme. The bags also included a few quirky extras, a filter coffee and some chocolate, to persuade them to “Take 5”, our theme of the day, to encourage the employer to sit back, relax and take five minutes to have a read through the information and decide on making the next move for their business.
Coverage of the event was published the following day in the Wrexham Leader.
